A Case Report of Dermatomyositis

Abstract
|

|
Dermatomyositis is an uncommon connective tissue disorder of unknown etiology charactrerized by erythematous and edematous changes in the skin, in association with inflammation and degeneration of the skeletal muscles.
A 30 yera-old female with dermatomyositis without underlying malignancy is presented with a brief review of the literatures. The patient was admitted to the department of Internal Medicine via the department of Dermatology on February 25 1987, with chief complaints of progressive muscle weakness of both extremities, dysphagia,dyspyonia and characteristic cutaneous findings with heliotrope erythema and swelling of eyelids. The diagnosis was made chiefly by typical clinical findings with aid of elevated muscle enzymes, muscle biopsy and electromyographic findings.
The patient has been placing on prednisolone and other symptomatic measures with remarkable improvement.
